Forummotion has released a new forum version which is why the forum looks so different now

I'm still ironing a few things out - so don't worry if you see things disappear, colours change and objects move around.

You should find it easier to post new topics, reply to others posts and generally use the forum, as buttons and options are now set out in a more user friendly way.

I would like to introduce myself and my horse. I have a few horses which I all dearly love, but my standie owns a special place. I really shouldn't have bought him. I paid too much money, he is not re-trained - I wanted a safe bush ride, he spooks like hell and is very nervous. I got him anyway.

I have had him for a while, it's an on-going struggle, but we will get there. He is a beautiful horse.

I'm Karen from the nsw Central Coast i own 1 standard bred gelding Big Ben, rescued him from the QLD dogger yards roughly about 6 months ago.

Hi first time user and very new to forums have no idea how they work....heres hoping I get it right!

Just got my first Standie.....Rescue horses so might need some help from other owners.

Told he is 5yrs (not sure how to read there brands), 15.2hh, retired from racing 10 weeks ago, was left in a yard with just water and occassional bits thrown to him hence underweight now, very quiet, did trot and canter in roundyard.

Any suggestions most welcome.

I have very recently got myself a 3yo 17hh standie gelding off the track. He's not broken to saddle yet and needs a bit of weight for his tall lanky frame. But we are getting there slowley, I'm in no rush with him, at the moment he's chilling with my old retired pony club horse (who is now 27) eating and sleeping living it up and gaining weight. Hello my name is Lorraine and we live in the port stephens area.

we have 6 horses Tb mare, TB x QH gelding QH x SH gelding and 2 clydies a mare and stallion. We started our horse life with a very young Standie of 2yrs old, he will be 8 yrs old now he is still in our horses group but not with us. he grew to be a big boy of 17.2 hh and as gentle as a lamb.

we love them and there is always room for more. The TB mare is in foal to the clydie stallion due next month.

This is my appaloosa mare that i have recently brought photos taken straight out of a 130 acre paddock after 3 yrs of no work, she isn't rugged and is just on grass. Very fat and out of condition, feet will be done once she is officially mine they are in need of a good trim.

She was broken in and then used for the very occasional trail ride, she was easy to get back under saddle no buck/pigroot ...
