Hey all I'm new here thought I'd drop in and say hi.

I have very recently got myself a 3yo 17hh standie gelding off the track. He's not broken to saddle yet and needs a bit of weight for his tall lanky frame. But we are getting there slowley, I'm in no rush with him, at the moment he's chilling with my old retired pony club horse (who is now 27) eating and sleeping living it up and gaining weight. I have recently started lunging him and of course he's a gem. Nothing to serious on the lunge just double reining and encouraging him to come back down into a lower frame as he is much happier at the moment being all hollow backed and looking alot like a giraffe (thats his nickname at home "the giraffe"). He has no muscles at all at the moment as he was left in the paddock for quite a while once they figured he wasnt fast enough for the track. So the plan is slowly gain weight and muscle and just give him lots of love, which is easy to do because he's the biggest smooch i've ever owned.

Anyway, I'm glad I stumbled accross this forum, i'm looking forward to having a look around and talking to some other standy fans Smile

and all other horsey fans of course.

welcome big standie owner.... I have a 17hand standie, I'm taking him this weekend to standies25's clinic.... should be fun, sure hope he doesn't destroy the place....where abouts are you from, would be great to meet! have fun on here, you will get heaps of GOOD advice, as we all LOVE our standies
