PostSubject: How things change!   Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:07 am

Hi Everyone,

I'm Nicole, a mother of two who can't wait to own a horse again.

I once adopted a horse through SAQ but that didn't work out...Charlie and I were just not a good match but thanks to the hard work of the wonderful Caroline, he found a much happier home.

After Charlie I found Aries (Waikaka Gold NZ), the most gorgeous horse I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. Aries was fresh-ish off the track and had two speeds FAST and MUCH FASTER. He was frightening to ride but had the most soft, sweet nature that we persevered with him. Some time with a natural horsemanship trainer and Aries was a new boy.

Not long after we got things heading in the right direction with Aries, I fell pregnant and decided to find a new home for my beautiful boy. He was just too divine to have sitting in a paddock waiting for me to have time for him again. He now has a wonderful home with a lovely girl who has continued his NH training.

Anyway, since then I've lived in Dubai for a couple of years, had two children and pretty much lost touch with what's going on with Standies here. I did a quick search for SAQ this-morning and found this site. Excellent work...congratulations to all involved!

I'm probably still some time away from being ready to have a horse again, but that horse will hopefully be a standie and I thought I'd get involved here to see what's going on.

So, "Hi" from me. I look forward to getting to know some of you.

Nicole

Hey Nicole

welcome1 to the forum!!!!

It is so good to hear from you!! Dubai - WOW

I am still doing the Standardbred adoption with a lot of help from a few other people - we actually started up a new group called AFTER. It was little rough post EI but things are really rocking along now, lots of horses and lots of people wanting horses.

Not sure if you found the forum through our group AFTER or not but here is the web address www.afterqld.org.au. We might even be able to convince you to join up LOL.

I had a baby last year too -a little girl. We called her Ruby and she was born on her Dad's birthday.

When you are ready for a new pony., if you decide to get a Standy, let me know.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride Very Happy

Cheers
Cazz

Hi everyone and thank-you for the warm welcome Very Happy Yikes...100th member. Well done to all of you!

Caroline...CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of Ruby. How special for her daddy that they share their birthday.

I did find this forum via the AFTER site. LOVE the name of your new association!! I'll find some time one day to have a better look around the site and to read through more of the posts here.

We're heading back to Dubai for a bit longer. I'm just here with the little ones avoiding the worst of the heat. I'm missing the horsey life dreadfully so, if you all don't mind, I'll be a bit of a lurker here and live my horsey dreams vicariously through you for a while.

My dream in Dubai is to do lots of riding at one of the AMAZING riding schools over there (picture fully airconditioned indoor facilities of Olympic standard, piped music for the horses, beautiful landscaped outdoor arenas etc etc) and eventually get the confidence to go on a desert trek, though that will most likely be on a 'crazy' arab. Not too many Standies in Dubai!!

Thanks again for the welcome. When we're next in Qld I'll look you up Caroline...I still owe you a beer!!
