newcomer in town

Post by driver1983 on Wed Sep 03, 2008 6:46 am

hi all
i've just joined up to your forum, and have just sent my restration papers for the life after racing club.
i live in Hillcrest (QLD) and I own a beautiful 10year old standy gelding,
i love him to bits
i want to get more involved with other standy lovers and maybe start taking my boy to outings and gymkannas some time down the track, i still have a lot to work on him as i have only started to re-educate him in the last day or so, i bought him off the track as a retired pacer, he has a lovely kind nature but has been miss understood as a horse.
i would like to start riding him eventually but also like to keep him in the sulky. i am wondering if there are any events around that can help encourage me with my standy?

I'd rather wear tall boots than high heels.I'd rather jump fences than skip rope.I'd rather muck a stall than clean my room.I'd rather pick hooves than flowers.I'd rather switch leads than swap gossip.I'd rather carry hay bales than a purse.I'd rather whisper to ponies then talk to boys.I'd rather wear riding breeches than a mini skirt.I'd rather brush a horse than brush my hair. I'd rather wear a hair net than wear make-up

Welcome! I agree, you should come to the gymkhana Very Happy
"Of all the things about me that could frighten you, you worry about my driving."

"They gave you a few transfusions. I didn’t like it — it made you smell all wrong for a while."

"You should probably know that I’m breaking the rules right now. Well, not technically, since he said I was never to walk through his door again, and I came in the window… But, still, the intent was clear."

We have almost forgotten how strange a thing it is that so huge and powerful and intelligent an animal as a horse should allow another, and far more feeble animal to ride upon it's back.
